As always, there is a lot of news here in Near Northeast & NoMa! I've included a LOT of information below, but as you know we live in a very busy area! If you'd like any more details or if you have any questions about anything else, please let me know.
Thanks!

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6th. The polling place for most of our neighborhood is at JO Wilson Elementary (same as previous years). Note that the boundaries of all ANCs shifted this year due to the Census, and many of the districts were renumbered as well. Therefore, while I'm currently the ANC Commissioner for 6C04, many of you will see me on the ballot for 6C06 this year. I would really appreciate your vote!
-- Note: The next CHNNA meeting is Saturday, November 3rd - 10am at Pilgrim Church (corner of 7th & I NE). This includes new officer elections.
(See the new boundaries here: http://ward6tony.blogspot.com/p/anc-6c.html)
A couple blocks from the old 6C04 (between 4th-6th-K-I) are now part of 6C05, where Mark Kazmierczak is running unopposed. Senate Square, and many blocks South of H, are in the "new" 6C04, where Mark Eckenwiler is running unopposed. Both Marks have been heavily involved in CHNNA and ANC 6C, respectively, and will be great commissioners if they are elected next week.

Parks:
* Mayor Gray re-obligated nearly $500,000 recently for the Office of Planning to begin work on a parks plan for NoMa and portions of Near Northeast. This is a VERY important step towards getting more permanent parks funding in our area.
* In the meantime, I have worked with Metro Mutts and others on a new fenced-in area that will be open within the next couple months near the Uline Arena. Stay tuned for more details soon!
Retail News:
* Unleashed by Petco is opening at 1200 First Street NE, adjacent to CVS.
* Neighborhood pet store Metro Mutts on H Street won a grant to improve their already-great store.
* Thaaja Indian Food Bar is opening in a few weeks at the corner of 2nd and Florida NE, in the base of the Marriott. They will have a full liquor license, and the space is looking great inside.
* Union Market, at 1309 5th NE, will expand its hours starting November 10th to be open 11-8 Wednesday to Friday and 8-8 Saturday and Sunday. If you haven't been up there recently, new vendors have opened up nearly every weekend.
* There was a fire earlier this week in one of the older market buildings, near the old "Union Market" sign is at 4th & Morse. Unfortunately it appears that there was a lot of damage to some of the businesses there.
Development News:
Somehow, this is just a portion of what's under construction or breaking ground soon!
* The new Archstone apartment building at 1st & M NE is now >50% leased, and the owners have filed permits for TWO more apartment buildings in NoMa to start early next year. One will be 500 apartments + retail at 55 M Street, and the other will be 200 apartments + retail at 100 K Street NE.
* The next phases of Constitution Square, an apartment and office building, are both on track for completion next Summer with 200 apartments, 350,000 SF office space, and 20,000 SF of retail.
* 300 L Street & 318 Eye Street - these two apartment buildings will start leasing before the end of the year. Combined, there are nearly 300 apartments in these buildings.
* 360 H Street is rapidly progressing, and in addition to the Giant grocery, will have a BB&T bank branch at the corner of 4th & H.
* A new Hyatt Place has started preliminary site work at 33 New York NE.
* Two new office buildings are also slated to break ground in the very near future: 1150 First Street (sister building to the sloped glass building at 1100 First) and 88 M Street (the first phase of Skanska's 3 building complex in the parking lot behind the CVS).
* Other office buildings under construction include NPR at 1111 North Cap & 1050 First Street (sister building to 90 K). Both will be complete next year.
* The Washington Gateway project at the NY/Florida intersection includes a 400 unit apartment building in its under-construction first phase. This includes ground floor retail, a public plaza, wide sidewalks, and a new traffic light at 2nd NE.
Thank you for reading this far! As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about anything here in our neighborhood.
