Upcoming Events STEM Education Carnival
Where: Rita Bright Family & Youth Center (2500 14th St NW)
When: Wednesday, May 14, 5:00 - 8:00pm
Metro: Columbia Heights (Green / Yellow)
The annual spring carnival will be focused on science, technology, engineering, and math, or STEM education, and we expect nearly 150 students at LAYC's Rita Bright Youth Center to be in attendance. Students will have the opportunity to engage with a variety of fun and educational STEM-themed activity stations. We need lots of volunteers to run the stations, help prepare and serve the dinner, or lend a hand wherever needed to help us put on a successful and fun carnival for the kids. Let's meet at James Hobans for some Sunday drink deals! We plan to get the first drink for the STEM Education Carnival Volunteers! Others are most definitely welcome to join! Just ask the host/hostess for Kiwanis or look for the balloon. Brides Against Breast Cancer
Where: Le Méridien Arlington (1121 19th St N Arlington, VA 20011)
When: Saturday, May 31, 9:00am - 12:30pm
Metro: Rosslyn (Orange / Blue)
The Brides Against Breast Cancer (BABC) charity bridal gown sale is in need of volunteers (you too, fellas!) to help with roles including personal shopper, registration, dressing room assistant, greeter as well as setting up and tearing down. BABC provides resources to help make a difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families. This charity event is part of a Nationwide Tour of Gowns traveling to roughly 120 cities per year with hundreds of beautiful wedding gowns for sale. Suggested attire: Please wear your DCYP Kiwanis t-shirt if you have one or a pink shirt. Jeans are fine as long as they don't have rips or holes. Also, remember to wear comfortable shoes.
