We will be going to A BAR + Kitchen in Foggy Bottom. If the weather is nice, they have a great outdoor area. Hope to see you there! We are less than two weeks away from the STEM Carnival! We expect about 150 kids to participate in this event on Wednesday, May 14 at the Rita Bright Family & Youth Center, so we need a lot of volunteers! Volunteers are needed for a number of roles including to help run the STEM-themed activity stations. If you haven't signed-up, you can easily do so on the Eventbrite page- Click here to sign-up! Ashley Upcoming Events Happy Hour / Meet & Greet Where: A BAR + Kitchen (2500 Pennsylvania Avenue DC) When: Wednesday, May 7, 6:00 - 8:00pm Metro: Foggy Bottom (Blue / Orange) Join us for our May happy hour meet & greet at a new location! Enjoy great happy hour specials while meeting other young professionals. You can also pick up information about upcoming service projects and events. Find us outside just past the main inside seating and look for the red balloon! STEM Education Carnival *Address Updated* Where: Rita Bright Family & Youth Center (2500 14th St NW) When: Wednesday, May 14, 5:00 - 8:00pm Metro: Columbia Heights (Green / Yellow) The annual spring carnival will be focused on science, technology, engineering, and math, or STEM education, and we expect nearly 150 students at LAYC's Rita Bright Youth Center to be in attendance. Students will have the opportunity to engage with a variety of fun and educational STEM-themed activity stations. We need lots of volunteers to run the stations, help prepare and serve the dinner, or lend a hand wherever needed to help us put on a successful and fun carnival for the kids. Carnival Volunteer Appreciation & Happy Hour *NEW* Where: James Hoban's Irish Pub (1 Dupont Circle NW) When: Sunday, May 18, 1:00 - 3:00pm Metro: Dupont (Red) Let's meet at James Hobans for some Sunday drink deals! We plan to get the first drink for the STEM Education Carnival Volunteers! Others are most definitely welcome to join! Just ask the host/hostess for Kiwanis or look for the balloon. Marine Corps Band *NEW* Where: West Front of U.S. Capitol (E. Capitol St. and First St. NW) When: Wednesday, June 11, 7:00 - 9:00pm Metro: Capitol South (Blue / Orange) Join DCYP to listen to some military tunes on the steps of the Capitol. Here are some details about this event. Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner. (Glass and alcohol are not permitted at the event.)
