| Happy New Year!! That's right - yesterday, October 1, kicked off the first day of the new Kiwanis year! Thank you to all our renewing members for your support and welcome new members - you're in for an awesome year! I am also pleased to welcome back our returning board members and announce our newest addition, Kevin Carroll, who will serve as the new membership director! Join us at our upcoming club meeting on Oct. 23 to hear what's in store for the new year and find out how you can get involved with events including the Annual Halloween Carnival!
Speaking of the Halloween Carnival, please save the date, October 30, for this special event taking place at a new location this year, The Children's Inn at NIH. Many of us enjoyed volunteering at The Inn in June when we hosted the Father's Day party and now we are even more excited to host The Inn's very first Halloween Carnival! To sign up as a volunteer, contact Dustin at dcyp.events@gmail.com.
Mark your calendars for our October Happy Hour Meet & Greet, taking place next Tuesday at Buffalo Billiards. Drop in to say hello and enjoy some games and happy hour specials!

Happy Hour / Meet & Greet
Where: Buffalo Billiards (1330 19th St NW)
When: Tuesday, October 8, 6:00 - 8:00pm
Metro: Dupont (Red)
Come meet and hang out with fellow young professionals at this upcoming happy hour / meet and greet. Drop in any time you want between 6pm and 8pm. You can also pick up information on the upcoming service projects and events. Buffalo Billiards has pool, shuffle board, darts, and skee-ball. They also have great happy hour specials. Just ask the host for Kiwanis or look for the red balloon. See you there!
General Meeting and New Member Meet & Greet
Where: West End Library, 2nd Floor (1101 24th St NW)
When: Wednesday, October 23, 6:30 - 8:30pm
Metro: Foggy Bottom (Orange / Blue)
Members and guests, join us at this meeting as we kickoff our fall events! We'll go over the plans for the upcoming Halloween Carnival, a major annual event we are hosting at The Children's Inn, as well as other upcoming projects. We'll also break into committee groups so that you can provide feedback and ideas for future events. New to the club? Where: The Children's Inn at NIH (7 West Drive, Bethesda, MD) When: Wednesday, October 30, 5:30 – 9:00pm Metro: Medical Center (Red)
Our Annual Halloween Carnival will serve the families of the Children’s Inn who have traveled from all over the country to receive medical treatment at NIH. In addition to our traditional Halloween-themed carnival games, arts and crafts, and pumpkin decorating activities, DCYP Kiwanis will cook a homemade dinner for the families. We invite you to join us in making this a special, fun-filled Halloween for the kids and their families! Costumes highly encouraged!!
Volunteers are asked to arrive by 5:30 PM (or earlier if possible) as families will arrive for dinner at 6:00 PM. A setup/dinner prep team is needed as early as 4:00 PM. If you can't arrive until later, no problem, just let us know. To sign up to volunteer, contact dcyp.events@gmail.com.
