[tfctoastmasters:486] TFC Humorous Contest Tomorrow

Good afternoon TFC,

Tonight we will be having our Humorous Club Contest. This means our entire meeting will be humorous speeches! Please see the roles and rules below, and let me know if you'd like to sign up to participate for a particular leadership role.

Remember to bring your Communication and Leadership Manuals for credit!

Humorous Speech Contest Rules:
1. The subject for the Humorous speech shall be selected by the contestant. The speaker shall avoid potentially objectionable language, anecdotes, and material.
2. The speech must be thematic in nature (opening, body, and close), not a monologue (series of one-liners).
3. Humorous speeches shall be from five to seven minutes. A contestant will be disqualified if the speech is less than four minutes 30 seconds or more than seven minutes 30 seconds.

The theme of the contest will be Family.

Roles Needed

Judges (2)

Timers (2)

Ballot Counters (3)

At club contests, a contest chair, chief judge, at least five judges, a tie-breaking judge, three counters, and two timers are appointed, unless impractical. We may need to double duty ballot counters and timers, depending on how many people attend tonight.

Our meeting begins at 6:45pm and is located at 1875 Connecticut Avenue, at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and T Street across from the Washington Hilton Hotel. Please try to arrive by 6:40pm to ensure that we start and end on time. If you have a role and are running late, please be sure to text me at 301-904-7165 so we can plan accordingly.

The building is located approximately 3 blocks from the Dupont Circle Metro (red line), North exit on the right. You can also take the 42 Bus heading north from Metro Center. If you need to park, there are normally metered spots in front of building on Connecticut available, as well as some spots on T Street. There are two entrances (1825 & 1875) and we need to enter through the 1875 entrance ("Universal North"). The doors will be locked, so we will meet in the lobby before the meeting. If you come after the start of the meeting, the building guard will let you inside. Please give the guard your name, let them know you are there for Toastmasters, and he or she will let you up to the meeting on the 12th floor at the American Public Power Association's main conference room.

See you tomorrow,

Colin
