Ashley Upcoming Events Brides Against Breast Cancer Charity Event Where:The Dupont Circle Hotel (1500 New Hampshire Ave, NW) When: Saturday, September 14 9:30am - 1:30pm Metro: Dupont Circle (Red) A new event for DCYP, the Brides Against Breast Cancer (BABC) charity bridal gown sale is in need of volunteers (you too, fellas!) to help with roles including personal shopper, registration, dressing room assistant, and greeter. BABC provides resources to help make a difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families. This charity event is part of a Nationwide Tour of Gowns traveling to roughly 120 cities per year with hundreds of beautiful wedding gowns for sale. Happy Hour / Meet & Greet Where:Elephant and Castle (900 19th Street NW) When: Wednesday, September 18 6:00 - 8:00pm Metro: Farragut West / North (Orange / Blue / Red) Come meet and hang out with fellow young professionals at happy hour / meet and greet at Elephant & Castle in Farragut. 900 19th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20006 near the Farragut metro stops. Drop in anytime between 6 and 8pm. You can also pick up information on the upcoming service projects and events. See you all soon! Just ask the host for Kiwanis or look for the balloon. National Public Land's Day Where: Kenilworth Park & Acquatic Gardens (1550 Anacostia Ave. NE) When: Saturday, September 28 9:00am - 12:30pm Metro: Deanwood (Orange) Join us at National Public Lands Day as we help improve Kenilworth Park & Acquatic Gardens in NE DC. The major projects will include putting on waders and removing cut lotus from the ponds, walking the forest and removing invasive plants and removing trash from the park. The event will end with cake! For more information on the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, go to http://www.friendsofkenilworthgardens.org/. It is metro accessible. General Meeting and New Member Meet & Greet Where: West End Library, 2nd Floor (1101 24th St NW) When: Wednesday, October 23 6:30 - 8:30pm Metro: Foggy Bottom (Orange / Blue) Members and guests, join us at this meeting as we kickoff our fall events! We'll go over the plans for the upcoming Halloween Carnival, a major annual event we are hosting at the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC), as well as other upcoming projects. We'll also break into committee groups so that you can provide feedback and ideas for future events. New to the club?
