HalloweenParty

We are very excited to announce a brand new location for this year's Kiwanis Halloween Carnival -- The Children's Inn at the National Institute of Health (NIH)! This event will serve between 50-80 children and their familiy members residing at The Inn as they undergo treatment at NIH.

In addition to our traditional Halloween-themed carnival games, arts and crafts, and pumpkin decorating activities, DCYP Kiwanis will cook a homemade dinner for the families. We invite you to join us in making this a special, fun-filled Halloween for the kids and their families! P.S. Costume are highly encouraged!!

Volunteers are needed to:

  • cook and serve dinner
  • lead carnival games and activities
  • exchange tickets for prizes at the prize table
  • assist with pumpkin decorating
  • help children make dessert dirt cups
  • set up and clean up for the event

Volunteers are asked to arrive by 5:30 PM (or earlier if possible) as families will arrive for dinner at 6:00 PM. If you are available to help earlier, a setup/dinner prep team is needed as early as 4:00 PM. If you can't arrive until later in the evening, no problem, just let us know when to expect you.

Sign up today. Contact:

Dustin Benoit
DCYP Kiwanis Special Events Director

We look forward to celebrating Halloween with you at the Inn!

[NSCoderNightDC] Reston anyone?

Hello NSCoders! I've been doing small iOS programming jobs for three years part time now, and would really like some help getting set up with Github and some other basic developer stuff.  I live in Reston near the Town Center; if anybody is out this way i'd be happy to hire someone for a small gig or two.  Also have some projects I might want help on.  Thanks!

[tfctoastmasters:488] TFC Toastmasters Agenda - Wednesday, October 2

Greetings, TFC Toastmasters!

Attached is the agenda for our meeting next Wednesday, October 2, 2013.

Please remember to submit your dues before this Monday, September 30th! Please contact our Club Treasurer, Andrey Shevchenko at sheva2002@gmail.com, if you have questions.

Our meeting begins at 6:45pm Wednesday, October 2 and is located at 1875 Connecticut Avenue, at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and T Street across from the Washington Hilton Hotel. Please try to arrive by 6:40pm to ensure that we start and end on time. If you have a role and are running late, please be sure to text me at 413-265-3189 so we can plan accordingly.

The building is located approximately 3 blocks from the Dupont Circle Metro (red line), North exit on the right. You can also take the 42 Bus heading north from Metro Center. If you need to park, there are normally metered spots in front of building on Connecticut available, as well as some spots on T Street. There are two entrances (1825 & 1875) and we need to enter through the 1875 entrance ("Universal North"). The doors will be locked, so we will meet in the lobby before the meeting. If you come after the start of the meeting, the building guard will let you inside. Please give the guard your name, let them know you are there for Toastmasters, and he or she will let you up to the meeting on the 12th floor at the American Public Power Association's main conference room.

Please remember to bring your Competent Communicator & Competent Leadership manuals! If you are speaking or serving in a role receive credit where your credit is due!

Thank you, and have a great weekend!
Catherine
