| Happy Friday DCYP! We could use your help this Sunday to host a special Father's Day dinner and celebration at the NIH Children's Inn! We're cooking up a delicious "Breakfast for Dinner" for approximately 75 family members living at the inn as their children undergo treatment at NIH. See below for details and please sign up by Sat. if you are able to attend.
Mark your calendars now to participate in DCYP's Annual Meeting & Elections, along with a special New Member Meet & Greet on June 26! The meeting will also include breakout groups for you to provide feedback and ideas for future activities. If you are a member who is interested in leadership opportunities with the Board and/or committees, please see the announcement below!
If you're not yet a member, but would like to officially be part of the organization, now is the perfect time to join before the annual meeting! A mid-year discounted rate is now available and you have a chance to save on next year's dues as well.

DCYP Leadership Opportunities Available!
The DC Young Professionals Kiwanis club is seeking committed individuals who are interested in serving in active leadership roles with the organization's Board of Directors and committees in the 2013-14 year. By volunteering the DCYP's leadership team, you can help guide the club's operations and activities, build valuable leadership and professional skills, and help strengthen the club's impact in the DC community.
In order to serve on the board or committee leadership positions, individuals must be current DCYP members. Board elections will take place during the annual meeting on June 26. If you are interested in running for a board position or joining a committee, please contact Amanda at dcyp.president@gmail.com.
Upcoming Events
Children's Inn Dinner and Father's Day Party
Where: Children's Inn (7 West Drive Bethesda, Maryland 20814 )
When: Sunday, June 16, 4:00 - 8:00pm
Metro: Medical Center (Red)
The Children's Inn is a special home-away-from-home for families whose children are receiving treatment at NIH. In honor of all the "Super Dads" at the Children's Inn, DCYP will prepare a special "Breakfast for Dinner" and help the children create cards for their dads. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve the meal, interact with the families, and help the children with crafts. Volunteers must sign up by Saturday in order to receive details and directions. Email DCYP.Service@gmail.com.
United States Army Band at the Capitol
Where: US Capitol (E. Capitol St. and First St. NW )
When: Friday, June 21 7:30 - 9:00pm
Metro: Capitol South (Orange / Blue)
Come join us for a 'Sunset with a Soundtrack.' The United States Army Band will be performing on the West steps of the Capitol building. Find the group with the red balloon! RSVP at dcyp.social@gmail.com.
Annual Meeting, Elections, and New Member Meet & Greet

When: Wednesday, June 26 6:30 - 8:30pm

Kick off the summer with DCYP by providing valuable feedback and ideas for upcoming activities! At this annual meeting, members can vote for the new leadership team, welcome in new members, and learn how to become involved in the behind the scenes of DCYP. Following the meeting, we will go to McFadden's at 7:30 for the New Member Meet & Greet. To attend the meeting or learn about membership and/or leadership opportunities, email Amanda at dcyp.president@gmail.com. Please bring magazines to the meeting as we are collecting them for the clients of Food for All in preparation for the upcoming service project.
Food For All
Where: Universalist National Memorial Church (1810 16th St NW)
When: Saturday, June 29, 9am - 12pm
Metro: U Street (Green/Yellow) & Dupont Circle (Red)
Volunteer with DCYP at Food for All as we help package and deliver food to home bound residents and DC families in need. From 9-10 am, we will help pack boxes with non-perishable food items. Then, we will divide up into smaller groups in cars and deliver food throughout the city. If you have a car and are willing to help drive a group on deliveries, please let us know. A Capitol 4th Dress Rehearsal
Where: US Capitol (E. Capitol St. and First St. NW )
When: Wednesday, July 3, 5:30 - 10:00pm
Metro: Capitol South (Orange / Blue)
Get up close and personal with the show that is put on for the 4th! Head to the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on July 3 for a dress rehearsal of the next evening's National Symphony Orchestra concert. Just like the real thing, however, you'll have to allow extra time for security measures: gates open at 3 p.m. and the program begins at 8 p.m. RSVP to dcyp.social@gmail.com. Look for the red balloon!
Key Club and CKI Alumni Reception
Where: Mellow Mushroom (2436 18th Street NW)
When: Friday, July 5 5:30 - 7:00pm
Metro: Woodley Park (Red) & Columbia Heights (Green / Yellow)
Kiwanis International (KI) invites you to attend a special reception for Key Club and CKI Alumni at the Mellow Mushroom in Adams Morgan. The event will take place as thousands of students descend upon DC for the Key Club International Convention.
There is no cost to attend the reception, and KI will provide pizza, a fun program and great giveaways. To learn how to register, contact Amanda at dcyp.president@gmail.com.
