Greetings Museum & Science Friends!

We are searching for volunteers for the Arctic Spring Festival May 8th-10th at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History. Please distribute this announcement widely (see attached poster)! Please see our website for a full schedule of events: http://www.mnh.si.edu/arctic/arcticspringfestival/

Arctic Spring will feature educational programs including a symposium, science displays and interactives, family events, artifacts and art workshops, cultural and musical performances, and films. We have many other agencies and scientists (including NPS, NASA, NSF, NAS, BOEM, NOAA & more!) coming to participate, as well as artists, musicians, and educators who are traveling from all over the Arctic to be here for the festival! We especially need help with volunteers for our craft workshops and educational arctic games! Can you help? Partial or full day shifts are available. Let us know when you can make it!

Friday May 8th: 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Activities/Crafts in Q?rius and Sant Ocean Hall)

Saturday May 9th: 8:30a.m.-1 p.m. or 1- 5:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (All day activities/crafts/science displays throughout the museum and evening performance)

Sunday May 10th: 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. (Film Festival Day)

If you can't volunteer, be sure to check out the Festival anyway and come to our amazing evening musical and dance performance on Saturday, May 9th at 6:30 pm in Baird Auditorium, Ground Floor, NMNH: Register here. On Sunday, May 10th 12-6pm, don't miss the Greenland Eyes International Film Festival in the Q?rius Theatre, Ground Floor, NMNH. Less than 100 seats available; Register Now! The symposium "Why the Arctic Matters: Applying a 'Human Perspective' to Understanding Arctic Change" on Friday from 1:30-4:30 p.m. in Baird Auditorium will feature a panel discussion with Arctic experts, as well as musical performances and a short film screening! In short, this festival will have something for everyone! We hope to see you there.

Contact: MulkerinM@si.edu & GordonM@si.edu to volunteer!

Best,
