Cup of Joe Catholic Charities Service Event (5/28)
Join fellow ND Alumni preparing bagged breakfasts for individuals utilizing homeless shelters through Catholic Charities’ “Cup of Joe” on Thursday, May 28. During Cup of Joe events, volunteers work in an assembly line fashion to put various food and drink items into bags which are then delivered by Catholic Charities staff to shelters. Meet at St. Mary’s Church in Chinatown (727 5th St NW - two blocks from the Chinatown/Gallery Place Metro) from 6:30 to 8 PM to participate and join us at The Irish Channel across the street for food and drinks after!
Father McKenna Homeless Shelter Service Event (5/30)
Join fellow ND Alumni to volunteer at the Father McKenna Homeless Shelter during the Hesburgh Month of Service on Saturday, May 30th. The Day Shelter welcomes approximately 95 men each day for an array of services. Open from 7 am to 1:30 pm, with special programs in the afternoon, the Day Shelter provides a safe and secure environment for homeless men to develop the individual strategies they need to move toward their full potential.
Without volunteers, the shelter is not able to open on Saturdays - so we encourage those available to sign up. They need volunteer support 7:30 - 1:30, so we're looking at 2 shifts (7:30-10:30, 10:30 - 1:30). If you are interested in helping out, please email Mary Kate Robinson at marykate@alumni.nd.edu with the shift you are interested in.
