***(NEW) 5/4 My name is Nhu Phan, and I graduated from ND in 2012 with a bachelor's in business management consulting and peace studies. I'm currently pursuing my Master's in human rights and humanitarian action at Sciences Po in Paris, France. For the coming Fall semester, we are required to do an internship, so I will be in Washington DC from July until December 2015 to intern with the Alliance for Peacebuilding (10 minute walking distance from the White House). I'm so excited about the work - I will be transposing international peace building practices into American policies, with a particular focus on the Middle East! *** 4/7 This is Austin Hagwood ('15 - English, ahagwood@nd.edu) and Dylan Marie Parent ('15- FTT, dylan.parent@me.com), and we are a recently engaged couple graduating from Notre Dame in May before starting documentary internships at the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage in late May/early June (we'll be working on documentary filmmaking and photography with a special focus on the international Folklife Festival). While our internships are scheduled to last six to eight weeks, we were looking for a more immersive experience in D.C. beyond the traditional apartment or dorm rental format and were wondering if any alumni families might have a spare room or housing space to offer in exchange for gardening, building, childcare, pet care, photography, website design, construction, crafts, researching, and household work such as cooking, laundry, ironing, and repairs. We're also very laid-back, low-maintenance, and conversational, and we would love to engage in events such as movie nights, sports, games, star-gazing, hiking, and learning more about the D.C. area.***
