| Don't forget to register for the Halloween Carnival with Easter Seals! The event will take place this Saturday, and you can register on the Evenbrite page. This year we're excited to announce new activities including donkey rides and a photo booth! We need a lot of volunteers to help make this a great party for the kids, so we hope to see you there! Also don't forget to wear your costume! After the carnival all volunteers will be invited to a happy hour in Silver Spring where we will award prizes for the most impressive costumes. Upcoming Events Halloween Carnival with the Easter Seals
Where: Easter Seals (1420 Spring Street)
When: Saturday, October 18, 9:30am-1:45pm
Metro: Silver Spring (Red)
Our Annual Halloween Carnival will serve Children of the Easter Seals Respite program. Many of these children are disabled or are children of Wounded Warriors. DCYP Volunteers will run carnival activity stations, hand out candy & prizes, and help children decorate pumpkins and create arts and crafts. Each child that comes to the carnival will get paired up with an experienced Easter Seals volunteer in addition to a DCYP Kiwanis volunteer. We invite you to join us in making this a special, fun-filled Halloween for the kids and their families! Costumes are highly encouraged!! Volunteers are asked to arrive by 9:30 AM. Where: National Mall between Capitol and Monument (Exact Meeting Location TBD)
When: Tuesday, November 11, 6-11pm
Metro: Smithsonian (Blue/Orange)
Join DCYP Kiwanis at a star-studded Veterans Day concert on the National Mall. Eminem, Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, Zac Brown Band, Metallica, Carrie Underwood, etc. will headline, with appearances by Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, and Steven Spielberg. It's sure to be crowded and crazy but we think it'll be well worth it! Details about how to attend the event-- which will be held on the National Mall between the Washington Monument and the Capitol-- are forthcoming. Food & Friends has been providing a range of services to the Greater DC area for more than 20 years, from preparing nutritious meals and groceries to counseling for people living with cancer and life-challenging illnesses. As we get into the holidays let us not forget those who are less fortunate than us. More information can be found here. A brief orientation will begin promptly at 8am followed by grocery prep/packing and possibly food deliveries. We've helped Food & Friends in the past and would like to show our conitnued support by bringing as many volunteers as possible. To sign up and receive more details, contact dcyp.service@gmail.com.
