Farming for the Arlington Food Assistance Center

For this unique project, we'll head to a farm in the DC area where we'll glean (harvest) surplus produce that would otherwise be left to waste in the fields. This will provide literally tons of free, fresh and nutritious food to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) which serves those in need in our local area. Carpools will be arranged. When you RSVP, please indicate the metro station nearest to you! Closer to the date of the event we will learn which farm we will be gleaning at.

Halloween Carnival with the Easter Seals

Our Annual Halloween Carnival will serve Children of the Easter Seals Respite program. Many of these children are disabled or are children of Wounded Warriors. DCYP Volunteers will run carnival activity stations, hand out candy & prizes, and help children decorate pumpkins and create arts and crafts. Each child that comes to the carnival will get paired up with an experienced Easter Seals volunteer in addition to a DCYP Kiwanis volunteer. We invite you to join us in making this a special, fun-filled Halloween for the kids and their families! Costumes are highly encouraged!! Volunteers are asked to arrive by 9:30 AM. ND-DC CO-ED FLAG FOOTBALL TEAM - FALL SEASON IS HERE


Fall is upon us, and the ND co-ed flag football team is back on the gridiron.  The Flagging Irish are always looking for new recruits, so if you're interested in playing email John Dickas (johndickas@yahoo.com). Games are on weekends in Anacostia Park against teams organized by other alumni clubs, and no experience or commitment is necessary.  The regular season runs from September 7 through the end of November, and joining mid-season is no problem.



YOUNG ADULT COMMUNITY RETREAT (10/17 - 10/19)


Join us for Holy Trinity's Young Adult Community (YAC) Retreat on October 17-19 at the Bellarmine Retreat Center in Waynesboro, PA (carpools available). The retreat is peer-led which includes three talks centered around knowing ourselves, what is important in our lives, and what our deepest desires are. We will have time for small group sharing, individual and communal prayer, and enjoying the vistas and quiet of the Blue Ridge mountains.

BETTER OFF BOWLING - FALL SEASON BEGINS (10/19)


Better Off Bowling is a co-ed social bowling league for young professionals that run two separate leagues, one on Sunday afternoons and another on Monday evenings during the Fall (and yes, the NFL games are on the big screen TVs).  They have a bunch of young professionals along with a number of other school alum groups and usually have ~400 fun social people in the league. They've contacted us hoping we would be interested in getting a team or two together (does not have to be all alums though). Registration ends early October, and the league starts rolling October 19th for the Sunday league and October 20th for the Monday night league!

ANNUAL YOUNG ADULT MASS WITH CARDINAL WUERL (10/26)


Young Adults across the Archdiocese of Washington are invited for our Annual Young Adult Mass with Cardinal Donald Wuerl on Sunday October 26th at 3pm at St. Matthew's Cathedral. Last year we had over 500 young adults participate! Be a part of this can't-miss event. Immediately following Mass we will head to Buffalo Billiards Bar (3 blocks away) for food, drinks and a FREE concert with Marie Miller! (Valid 21+ ID required). Farming for the Arlington Food Assistance Center

For this unique project, we'll head to a farm in the DC area where we'll glean (harvest) surplus produce that would otherwise be left to waste in the fields. This will provide literally tons of free, fresh and nutritious food to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) which serves those in need in our local area. Carpools will be arranged. When you RSVP, please indicate the metro station nearest to you! Closer to the date of the event we will learn which farm we will be gleaning at.

Halloween Carnival with the Easter Seals 
Where: Easter Seals (1420 Spring Street)
When: Saturday, October 18, 9:30am-1:45pm

Red)
Our Annual Halloween Carnival will serve Children of the Easter Seals Respite program. Many of these children are disabled or are children of Wounded Warriors. DCYP Volunteers will run carnival activity stations, hand out candy & prizes, and help children decorate pumpkins and create arts and crafts. Each child that comes to the carnival will get paired up with an experienced Easter Seals volunteer in addition to a DCYP Kiwanis volunteer. We invite you to join us in making this a special, fun-filled Halloween for the kids and their families! Costumes are highly encouraged!! Volunteers are asked to arrive by 9:30 AM.
