Hello Ward 6!
Good! I’m glad I caught ya before the weekend. After the rain tonight, it is supposed to be sunny with highs in the 60s. That’s perfect park weather for me! Most of Ward 6 has easy access to awesome parks: Lincoln Park, The Yards Park, Stanton Park, etc. NoMa is not so lucky, and will have to travel to other neighborhoods to enjoy some green space. That is, until parkland is created within the area.
Cue Mayor Gray budget fact…In the Mayor’s budget proposal, there is $50M dedicated to creating park space within NoMa. As we gain more and more residents in the area, parkland is becoming more vital for communities. Beyond NoMa, the playground at Kennedy Rec is being remodeled soon along with areas in SW. These will be amazing areas on nice spring weekends! For more budget info go to budget.dc.gov
If you have questions about parks, or education, or transportation, please come out Thursday, April 25th and hear Mayor Gray’s priorities for the next year. The information for the town hall meeting is:
