For those of us who are long-time WAPA members, the article/book review on the first page of the Metro section today of the Washington Post features a new best-seller by Mitchell Ratner’s daughter-in-law, Vadley Ratner. It deals with her childhood growing up in Khmer Rouge camps in Cambodia and finding her way out after losing a large number of family members to that cruel regime. It is a New York Times Eiditor’s Choice selection as well as one of Oprah Winfrey’s selections. She will speak at Politics and Prosem September 4 at 7 PM. The name of the book is In the “Shadow of the Banyan.”
