I hope you are having a great week!  Our next event is a happy hour at Elephant & Castle in Farragut.  If the weather is nice, we will be outside hanging out and enjoying the evening.  We are also looking forward to our service project to help restore Shepherd Parkway.

Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Ashley

Restore Shepherd Parkway 2012

Where: Shepherd Parkway (Malcolm X Avenue and 2nd Street SE)
When: Saturday, September 15– 9:00am - 1:00pm
Metro: Carpools arranged from Congress Heights metro (Green)

The Congress Heights Community Association is partnering with National Capitol Parks-East in an epic effort to restore the natural splendor of Shepherd Parkway, one of DC’s most neglected wooded areas. Shepherd Parkway is a 205-acre wooded area managed by the National Park Service. The park is home to two bald eagles nests and the remains of two Civil War forts, Fort Carroll and Ft. Greble. Many of the oak, poplar, hickory and beech trees in the park are over 100 years old.

Join us for this great event as we help restore Shepherd Parkway by removing debris, trash, invasive plants and debris. Sign up by emailing dcyp.service@gmail.com.

General Meeting

Where: West End Library (1101 24th Street NW)
When: Wednesday, October 10–  7:00 - 8:30pm
Metro: Foggy Bottom (Orange/Blue)

Members and guests are invited to attend the first meeting of the new Kiwanis year, where we will also induct new members into the club! To participate in the new member induction ceremony, email Amanda at dcyp.president@gmail.com. The meeting will be in the group room on the second floor.
