[anc6c04] Union Station Master Plan Public Open House this Wednesday, August 15th

Hello everyone!

Amtrak and their partners will be holding a public open house on Wednesday 8/15 from 5:30-7:30 at Union Station's Gate D for their massive new proposed expansion.  They will have renderings, models, and plenty of people on site who can answer any questions.  This 20+ year, $7+ billion project will triple the passenger capacity, add new green space and public plazas, retail, pedestrian entrances, and more.  This will also add multiple access points to the station along both First & Second Streets NE, all the way up to K Street.

I hope as many people can make it as possible.  The presentation is very impressive, and the folks that will be there are extremely knowledgeable about this project.  If you can't attend, don't worry: This is just one of the first steps in a very long public engagement process, so if you miss this, don't worry - there will be many other opportunities in the coming months (and years!) to meet with the development team and help shape this positive growth in our neighborhood.  (On a related note, after you visit the open house, there are several new restaurants that have opened in Union Station in the past few weeks, including Roti & Yo! Sushi, in the area where Chop'd, Potbelly & Chipotle were recently added.)

Thank you,
Tony Goodman

To:

As a friendly reminder, please see the attached invitation regarding a public open house with Amtrak, Union Station Redevelopment Corporation, Ashkenazy Acquisition Corporation, and Akridge, the air rights developer, on Wednesday, August 15 from 5:30pm-7:30pm, at Union Station, Gate D (across from Starbucks).  This open house will give members of the public the opportunity to learn more about the Amtrak Union Station Master Plan and how it will affect the surrounding communities.  The plan will help guide the transportation capacity expansion needed to accommodate future growth for all the users of Union Station – intercity rail, bus, commuter, and high-speed rail, as well as local residents.

Please forward this information to your affiliates who might be interested in learning more about our Master Plan.

Thank you,
