VOLUNTEER AT THE FR. MCKENNA CENTER (SATURDAY, 5/21)

The NDDC is volunteering at the Father McKenna Center in Washington DC (metro accessible!) on Saturday, May 21. The Day Shelter welcomes approximately 95 homeless men each day for an array of services. Without volunteers, the shelter is not be able to be open on Saturdays - so this would really help them out! They need volunteer support 7:30 - 1:30, so we're looking at 2 shifts (7:30-10:30, 10:30 - 1:30). The nominal schedule is as follows:


7:30 AM        Arrival and Quick Orientation
8:00 AM        Serve Coffee/Tea and pastries
8:30 AM        Serve breakfast
9:00 AM        End of breakfast / Prep lunch & Other Shelter Activities
11:30  AM        Group meeting in Chapel
12:00  AM        Serve lunch / eat with the men
12:45 PM         Clean-up

ND WOMEN CONNECT HOSTS CAREER JOURNEYS: FINDING THE BEST PATH FOR YOU (WEDNESDAY, 5/25)

The ND Women Connect's Professional Committee proudly presents "Career Journeys: Finding the Best Path for You" panelist event.

Please join us for a night of networking, and a panelist session with three esteemed alumni.  The panelists will share the journeys, advice, and lessons learned. A Q&A session will promptly follow. Light refreshments will be served.  

Guests must register in advance and pay $10 (the fee may be collected at the door).

When: Wednesday, 5/25 at 6 PM

Where: Facebook's DC Office, 1299 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, D.C.

WREATH LAYING AT THE TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER (SATURDAY, 5/28)

The ND Alumni Club of Washington, DC, is scheduled to place a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers on Monday, May 28, at 3:15 p.m., in honor of Notre Dame alumni who have personified the words "God, Country, Notre Dame." Everyone is welcome to join us for the ceremony. Keep in mind that the Tomb is a 20-minute walk from the Visitor Center, Metro stop, and Parking, so please plan accordingly. Army protocol calls for four people to accompany our wreath. Please contact David Diaz '95 at cerritos117@msn.com if you would like to volunteer or to nominate a current or former member of our Armed Services or if you have any questions about the event. We will meet on the south side of the Amphitheater Building.


UND NIGHT (SUNDAY, JUNE 5)

Join us at our annual Universal Notre Dame Night featuring Don Bishop, Associate Vice President for Enrollment at Notre Dame. We will be having dinner at Joe Theismann's Restaurant in Alexandria. One ticket for $50, two tickets for $90. All proceeds benefit the NDDC Scholarship Fund. To register, please visit: http://washingtondc.undclub.org/UNDNight2016 .

ND RECRUITING NIGHT (WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8)
A team of highly qualified and experienced recruiters will give tips and advice on finding a job in DC. Quick highlights for the event:
Building/formatting a resume
Job interview prep and tips
Be paired with a recruiter in their field of interest to assist in finding employment in the DC metro area
Free food and soft drinks!

When: June 8th, 2016 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Who: Recent grads and current interns in DC

ND WOMEN CONNECT BOOK CLUB

Looking for a good book to read this summer? ND Women Connect's DC Book Club is reading The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins! If you're interested in participating, contact Clara Ritger (claralritger@gmail.com). The meeting to discuss the book will be held sometime in August.
