SERVICE AT ST. ANN'S CENTER FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILIES (8/1)

Please join fellow ND alumni for an afternoon of service on Saturday, August 1st from 1:00pm - 5:00pm at St. Ann's Center for Children, Youth, and Families. All ages welcome!

St. Ann's Center for Children, Youth and Families has been serving the needs of our community's most vulnerable women and their children for over 155 years.  While in their care, young mothers prepare for their new role as a parent, continue their education, and take their first steps toward a reliable, lifelong career.  Although families may come to St. Ann's while in crisis, they leave with the hope and confidence that only a solid foundation of care can provide.

This volunteer opportunity will primarily consist of brightening the residential areas of St. Ann's. Projects include painting, organizing, decorating, and any other creative activity that will help the living aesthetics to be a bit more enjoyable for the residents. They look forward to working with the Notre Dame Club!

Location: 4901 Eastern Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20782 (see below for information re. transportation if needed)

Date: Saturday, August 1st

Time: 1-5pm

Please email Katie Hughes at kmhughes5@gmail.com if you are interested in joining. Also, if you need transportation, let her know as she will help coordinate rides (or can pick up volunteers at the West Hyattsville metro <green line>, which is close to St. Ann's).

ND CO-ED SOFTBALL: BATTER UP

The 2015 campaign for the ND co-ed softball team is underway, and they are looking for more interested Domers to join in the fun! They play in the Capital Alumni Network (CAN) league (www.dcalum.org), comprised of about 70 local alumni chapter teams from schools around the nation.  All regular season games are played in DC, and the competitive spirit continues after the games with a post-game celebration win or lose. Whether you want to show off your skills or you simply just like to have a good time, there's a spot on the roster waiting for you - please contact Jimmy Mandich '02/'03MSA (jimmymandich@yahoo.com) or Brandon Lenk '05(brandonlenk@gmail.com) for more information. Go Irish!
