| Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Want to enjoy a lovely afternoon playing with rescue dogs and connecting them to their forever home? There's still time to sign-up for this Saturday's project with Mutt Love Rescue. Be sure to email dcyp.service@gmail.com for information on the project and carpooling to the location. There are also a lot of NEW events on the calendar. See below for more information, and also, be sure to save the date for the DC Public Schools Beautification Day. Upcoming Events Dog Adoption with Mutt Love
Where: Weber's of Chantilly (4508 Lee Road, Chantilly, VA 20151)
When: Saturday, July 11, (12:00 - 3:00pm)
Metro: Carpool from Vienna (Orange / Silver)
Do you see a dog, run up to its owner and ask "can I pet your dog?" or want to help some dogs find their forever home? Come volunteer with Mutt Love Rescue, a non-profit, no-kill, volunteer dog rescue organization serving the Washington, DC, metro area. We'll be handling the dogs available for adoption, holding their leash and interacting with potential adopters with guidance provided by experienced volunteers. We'll meet just before noon and stay through 3 pm. We'll arrange a carpool from the Vienna metro station as needed. Questions or to RSVP please email dcyp.service@gmail.com. Join us for our July happy hour - we'll close our eyes and pretend we're on summer vacation! We're not going to a beach this month, but we'll still be heading to a paradise-- Pizzeria Paradiso in Dupont Circle, that is! So come ready for refreshing brews, a delicious slice and great people! Looking forward to seeing you all there! Look out for the red balloon!
Dress for Success Pop-Up Shop
Where: Marriott Marquis (901 Massachusetts Ave DC)
When: Saturday, July 25, (11:00am - 3:00pm)
Metro: Mt Vernon Sq / 7th St Convention Center (Green / Yellow)
Dress for Success: Worldwide is hosting their first Washington DC Pop-Up Shop to raise program funds from July 23 - 25. The Pop-up show, elegantly titled Empowershop 2015, is a 2 day shopping event where Washingtonians can come in and try on some designer brand merchandise at a reasonable and discounted price. DfS's mission is to provide both career development but also general support services to help women prosper in the workplace. More information can be found here.
Sign Up: Since they have many slots they need filled for volunteers, we are going to shoot for the Saturday shift from 11a to 1p, and if that's overfilled, 1p to 3p. If this doesn't work with your schedule feel free to sign-up any other day that you'd like. Also, stop by anytime during their 2 day event if you want to look through some of the clothing they have to offer. Volunteer slot sign up can be found here.
