Leadership and Committee Involvement Opportunities (NEW)
DCYP Kiwanis has several opportunities for members to get plugged in and serve in leadership roles and committees. See the descriptions below and contact Amanda at dcyp.president@gmail.com if you have any questions.
1 - Service Committee - Seeking individuals with a passion for volunteering to help organize projects!
Each month, DCYP Kiwanis strives to offer 2-3 group volunteer opportunities that serve a variety of causes in the DC-metro area. Service committee volunteers may help in a variety of ways, such as leading or co-chairing a one-time project, contacting local nonprofits about volunteer opportunities, coordinating volunteers on site, or even just suggesting a new project idea!
To get involved or learn more, contact Benita and Will at dcyp.service@gmail.com and attend the Service Committee kick-off meeting and happy hour on Feb. 18.
2 - Special Event Committee - Get involved with DCYP's major spring events!
The special events committee currently needs help planning two large-scale events: the March 22nd Evening at the Gallery, a benefit event celebrating our 9th anniversary; and the Spring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Carnival for DC youth. Volunteers can get involved in a variety of ways to help make these events a success.
To get involved or learn more, contact Dustin at dcyp.events@gmail.com or attend the Special Events Committee kick-off meeting and happy hour on Feb. 4.
3 - Project Eliminate Coordinator - Get involved in a global public health campaign for children.
With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus, or MNT. This deadly disease steals the lives of nearly 60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. Kiwanis International has committed to raising $110 million to vaccinate more than 100 million mothers. A Project Eliminate Coordinator is needed to serve as a project liaison for DCYP Kiwanis and help club members stay informed of the progress and ways to get involved with this global campaign. The Coordinator may provide periodic updates in the newsletter, at club meetings, or even help organize fundraising activities. If you are interested in learning more, contact Amanda at dcyp.president@gmail.com.
4 - Social Media Coordinator(s) - Tweet, Facebook and more to share about DCYP's activities!
DCYP Kiwanis actively uses social media to share news, photos, event announcements, last minute project updates and more with our members and community. We have also had success with outreach to prospective young professional members through media including Facebook, Twitter, and Meetup. We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer(s) to help post engaging updates as part of the club's communication and outreach plan.
If you are interested in learning more, contact Amanda at dcyp.president@gmail.com.
