u're reading it right, we are doing an early morning volunteer project! Continuing with our street outreach efforts and homeless awareness, we are making breakfast and spending time with the guests at Open Table in Alexandria. DCYP Board Members will begin setting up the food as early as 5:45 AM, wrapping up by 9 AM, but feel free to arrive later or leave earlier as needed. Open Table welcomes our area’s underserved neighbors every Thursday morning from 6-8 AM in Heritage Hall. In its first 18 weeks (through December 2013), Meeting House volunteers served over 340 breakfast meals and provided as many “to-go bags” with food for the day. This hands-on ministry is the work of Meeting House members who donate time, money, food, and supplies weekly. Open Table’s goal is to provide nourishing meals in a safe and welcoming place where conversations are encouraged and meals are shared around the table. DCYP Kiwanis will be bringing in food and the warm spirit of our volunteers to interact with the guests. If you're interested in helping, and getting an awesome start to your work day, please email DCYP.Service@gmail.com(While this location is not metro accessible, please indicate if you would like us to try to coordinate a ride for you from the King Street metro.)

Ice Skating in Georgetown!
Where: Washington Harbour Georgetown (3050 K Street NW DC)
When: Sunday, February 23, 3 - 5PM
Metro: Foggy Bottom (Orange / Blue)

Join your DCYP friends for some ice skating at the new Washington Harbour ice rink before the spring thaw! We'll meet at 3 PM, skate for a while and then go warm up nearby over some food and drinks. The Washington Harbour Fountain and Ice Rink, DC’s largest outdoor ice skating venue, is located in the lower plaza near the waterfront. More details about the rink and its location are available here. Ice skating with skate rental runs about $15. To sign up, email dcyp.social@gmail.com

Age in Place Home Maintenance Project
Where: Seabury at Home First (2501 18th St., NE)
When: Saturday, March 1, 8:45AM - 12:00PM
Metro: Rhode Island (Red)

Home First is an organization that serves low income senior citizens by helping with home maintenance in an effort to allow them to continue living independently. DCYP will spend a morning at the home of one of these seniors with a project called Age in Place (AIP) to help with services such as yardwork, house cleaning and painting. By providing a range of services – free to all persons 60 years and older - the AIP program can make the difference in whether seniors can stay in their homes or must find alternative living arrangements. In providing these services, AIP seeks to provide both the volunteer team and the senior with a safe, positive, fun, and meaningful experience. Volunteers are encouraged to talk with the senior citizens and to get to know them a bit while we serve. To sign up and receive more details on this project, contact dcyp.service@gmail.com.

Happy Hour / Meet and Greet
Where: Mackeys (1823 L Street NW)
When: Tuesday, March 11, 6:00 - 8:00PM
Metro: Farragut (Red / Blue / Orange)

Join us for our March Happy Hour at Mackeys. Enjoy great happy hour specials while meeting other young professionals. You can also pick up information about upcoming service projects and events. Just look for the red balloon most likely in the back at the bar area.
