Dear WAPA members,
We had a fantastic turnout on Saturday for the Voices of Virginia meeting. Thank you to everyone who participated. For any of you who were not able to attend the meeting or if you had trouble getting on the call, here is a short re-cap of what you missed.
- We met on Saturday, October 28th to discuss plans for our upcoming ethnography of Virginia voters. The turnout was fantastic (unfortunately leaving some unable to call in when we hit max capacity on our conference line. Don't worry, we'll have that fixed for next time!)
- The IRB proposal is under review and we expect to have it finalized within the week.
- We are putting a call out for a regional coordinator(s) for the Annandale study and field researchers for both Annandale and Pulaski county, our first two sites to begin data collection in December 2017. Please pass the word!
- We encourage participation from new and experienced anthropologists in and around the Commonwealth of Virginia. Feel free to pass this on! Anyone who hasn't yet signed up for a position or was unable to log onto the meeting, please review the attached proposal and let us know how you can participate by clicking the link here - Voices of Virginia Volunteer Survey.
SAVE THE DATES -- A 2-day training will be held for all field researchers on December 10 (from 1 to 4PM -- note revised time) and December 16 (from 10 to 1PM) at 2110 G Street NW, 2nd Floor conference room, George Washington University
- We will be conducting mandatory, hands-on training for field teams. Experienced anthropologists may opt out of day two of training, but are encouraged to come to both.
- An invite for the training will follow.
- All researchers are required to take the free, on-line ethics training at: https://about.citiprogram.org/en/homepage/ Please refer to the attached instructions for registering and selecting the Social and Behavioral Research module.

Victoria, any edits before I forward this? note: change of time for Dec 10th to 1-4PM (to avoid church hours). Also can you fill in the missing info for CITI training (and tips for getting on) and for link to the survey. This should go out to all wapa (I'll send it), to wapajobs and wapadc (I'll send these) and to this list of those who have signed up with you to participate (you send that?) Anything I missed?
