[wapadc] Save the date: Doc Film Screening at AU, Monday Nov 27, 2017, 6:30-8pm

Dear friends,

As some of you already know I've spent the past few months organizing a documentary film screening at AU, and am writing to invite you to attend it.

Dr. Sam Hampton will screen his new documentary film about a transgender youth of color from Silver Spring, MD, 22 year old Zo. The film, "Change in the Family," chronicles Zo's experiences and those of his family members on both sides of the Atlantic as Zo transitions from female to male, http://changeinthefamily.com/

Last month, Sam and Zo visited my "Gender, Sexuality and Culture" classes at American University, where they shared excerpts of the film with 80 of my undergraduate students; they and their film were met with much enthusiasm.

Here are the details:
Monday, November 27, 6:30-8pm, in Kerwin 2 auditorium.* The screening of the 63 minute long film will be followed by a Q&A and reception with the filmmaker and the protagonist's fatherPlease share the FaceBook invitation with others who might be interested: https://www.facebook.com/events/288842361602757

*Kerwin building, formerly known as Ward Building, is located at Ward Circle. Parking is available for free after hours across the street, underneath the Katzen Arts Center. See the attached map for directions.

Thanks for getting the word out, and I hope to see you next Monday evening!

Susanne
