Today we remember President Emeritus Fr. Theodore Hesburgh, C.S.C. who died last night. Read more about Fr. Hesburgh’s lasting influence on the world as the Notre Dame community celebrates his life.
We’ve got a busy week of ND events, starting with Winterfest tomorrow! Keep the Irish love going by cheering on the men’s basketball team as they take on Louisville at Parlay on Wednesday. ANNUAL WINTERFEST FLIP CUP TOURNAMENT (2/28) - TOMORROW!
Our annual Winterfest Flip Cup Tournament is Saturday, February 28 at Grand Central in Adams Morgan! We’ll have unlimited beer for players and spectators from 8-11 PM. Cost is $25/person for dues paying Club members and $30/person for non-members (cash at door).
To register: Email dcnotredameyoungalumni@googlegroups.com with your team name and a list of five team members. Both ND alumni and fans are welcome to play - you just need at least one ND alum to register your team!
HAPPY HOUR AND MEN'S BASKETBALL VS LOUISVILLE (3/4)
Join us for happy hour at Parlay (1827 M Street NW) on Wednesday, March 4th, at 5:30 pm. Stick around until 7:00 pm to watch the #10 Irish face off against the #9 Louisville Cardinals! Specials will run from 5:30 through the end of the game, including:
$5 bottled beers (domestic), rail drinks, and sangria
$6 draft beers, house wines, and fruit-infused vodka
$7 Papa Smurfs, mojitos, and other house favorites
$6 wings, cheeseburger sliders, and pulled pork sliders

ND PROFESSOR LECTURE AT THE CATHOLIC INFORMATION CENTER (3/5)
In his talk “From Sacred Space to the Bunker and the Space Ship: What Campus Libraries Can Teach Us About Education, Liberty, Culture, and the Divine”, Notre Dame Professor Patrick J. Deneen will explore the transformation in architectural style of libraries over time and discuss what these changes indicate philosophically, pedagogically, and theologically.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY AT THE FATHER McKENNA CENTER (3/14)
Join fellow Notre Dame Alumni for a service opportunity in downtown Washington DC! Volunteers will be working at the Father McKenna Center (http://www.fathermckennacenter.org/), a social service agency that principally provides a variety of services to homeless men including meals, clothing, access to phone and mail and case management. Volunteers will assist in providing enough “humanpower” to open the Center on Saturday to provide meals and other services to the men in the community. Should be a great day!
We are breaking the day into two three-hour shifts. 7:30 am-10:30 am and 10:30 am-1:30 pm.
Date: Saturday, March 14th
Time: 7:30 am-10:30 am OR 10:30 am-1:30 pm
Location: Father McKenna Center (9 minute walk from Union Station Metro!)
