Come meet and hang out with fellow young professionals at tonight's happy hour / meet and greet. Drop in anytime between 6pm and 8pm and pick up information on the upcoming service projects and events. Members and guests, join fellow DC young professionals at this meeting to kickoff the 2014 events and welcome new members! We will announce plans for upcoming service projects and special events, and then break into committee groups so that you can provide feedback and input for future events. New to the club? DCYP will be joining Georgetown, DC Promise Neighborhood Initiative (DCPNI) and the greater DC community on January 25 for the 2014 MLK Day of Service. Hundreds of Ward 7 residents, members of the Georgetown University and the DC community will spend the day engaging in a variety of service projects from creating care packages for NIH Children's Inn, to letter writing to veterans, to working with the elderly. Check-in and day-of registration begins at 10:30 am at Cesar Chavez Public Charter School for Public Policy at Parkside. The day ends with a community lunch and celebration and will conclude by 4:00 or 4:30 pm. You are welcome to stay for the lunch or can leave earlier if needed. Join DCYP for an evening of jazz. For $5, come and support local jazz musicians. This happens every Friday Night and in my (Sarah's) opinion, is one of the cities best kept secrets! The SW Catering company sets up a delicious meal in the basement of the church and they pipe in the music there as well. We'll probably gather in the back; just look for the red balloon.
