Good morning and happy Friday! We have a few new events coming up - a lunch with ND Women Connect and an ND-WIN happy hour. Don't forget about ACE trivia tonight and cheering on the Irish against Pitt tomorrow at 8:00 pm!

TONIGHT! ACE ADVOCATES DC TRIVIA NIGHT (11/8)

As a reminder, the ACE Advocates DC Trivia Night 2013 is scheduled for tonight, Friday November 8th at 8:00 PM. Event details are below:

  • What: Trivia Night 2013, to benefit the students and families of St. Augustine's School on V Street NW

  • When: Friday, November 8th at 8:00 pm

  • Who: You and your friends! You'll be joined by ACE alumni, the St. Augustine's community, and all who know and love Catholic Schools

  • What's the Deal? Register at our EventBrite page for a $5 discount on admission! Each ticket is $20 or $15 if you pre-register. If you register a group of 8, you'll only pay for 7!

GAMEWATCH AT THE EXCHANGE TOMORROW (11/9)

Join us this Saturday against Pittsburgh (game starts at 8:00 pm Eastern Time) to cheer on the Irish! The Exchange is located at 1719 G Street NW, close to the Orange, Blue, and Red lines (www.theexchangesaloon.com)


For the games, the Exchange is offering the following specials:

  • $15 wrist bands of bud light draft and rail drinks (starting at the beginning of the game and ending at the END of the 3rd quarter)

  • $12 pitchers of Bud Light draft

  • $5 shots (Jameson, Fireball, cinnamon toast crunch)

  • $5 Guinness pints

ALTERNATE GAMEWATCH IN ROCKVILLE, MD

As a convenience for ND football fans in the DC suburbs, an alternative TV-watching site is available this season in Rockville, MD. Miller's Rockville Ale House is a spacious new restaurant and sports bar at 1471 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD. 20852, phone (301) 770-8535.

ND-DC FAMILY MASS AND DINNER TOMORROW (11/9)

As a reminder, the Notre Dame Club of Greater Washington, DC, is hosting a family Mass and potluck dinner at George Mason University's (GMU) Catholic Campus Chapel tomorrow, Saturday, November 9th at 5:30 PM.


The details of the family mass and dinner are:

  • Date: November 9, 2013

  • Time: 5:30 PM Mass

  • Location: GMU's Catholic Campus Ministry Chapel, St. Robert Bellarmine, 4515 Roberts Road, Fairfax, VA

  • Mass Celebrant: Father Bill Dowart, CSC


The club will provide ham, paper goods and non-alcoholic beverages. Please bring a side dish or desert to share with the group (and label for food allergies, no peanuts or tree nuts please).  BYOB is allowed, if you like to have beer or wine.  Contributions towards the club expenses are appreciated and welcomed.


We will also be collecting non-perishable goods for Thanksgiving meals and new or gently used children's books at this event for local charities, including the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) program.

The activity room has a maximum seating capacity of 125 people. This is a family event and children are welcomed. We hope to see you there!



ND WOMEN CONNECT LUNCH (11/11)


On Monday, November 11th, ND Women Connect is hosting a lunch with Dr. Kathleen Sprows Cumming, an ND professor and expert on American Catholicism, where she'll share her thoughts on Pope Francis and American Catholics. The event will be held at Williams & Jensen (701 8th Street NW, Suite 500) at 12 PM. Event is free and open to both men and women! THEOLOGY ON TAP SERIES (11/12)

The Theology on Tap Series starts next Tuesday, November 12 at 6 PM at Buffalo Billiards in Washington, D.C. People of all stages of their faith journey are welcome to be a part of a supportive community, have a beer and hear some good stories of faith and inspiration. We hope to see you there!

CHRIST IN THE CITY (11/14)

Join the Archdiocese at Washington on the 2nd Thursday of each month for Christ in the City at Immaculate Conception Church!


Stop by for a short visit or join us for the evening. The night begins with a rosary at 6:30pm and a holy hour with praise and worship Adoration, confession and silent meditation from 7:00-8:00pm. Fellowship with food and drinks to follow.


Immaculate Conception is located at the corner of 8th & N Streets, NW - two blocks north of the metro stop at Mt. Vernon Square green and yellow line.


FALL WINE NETWORKING EVENT - DISCOUNT FOR ALUMS!


The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center has a Fall Wine Networking series that takes place every Wednesday through November 20th from 5-8pm. Each week we feature different wines/spirits paired with grilled food. We have live music and it's a great atmosphere for networking with different people or just relaxing after a day of work with coworkers and friends.

We are offering a promo code (ALUMNI) for a discount on food/beverage for ND DC club members and friends, which is good for the entire series.

ND-WIN HAPPY HOUR (11/21)


Come join your fellow Notre Dame alumni for some pre-holiday merrymaking, professional networking, and an update on upcoming ND-WIN events. We'll be at The Exchange (1719 G St NW  Washington, DC 20006) on Thursday, November 21, enjoying exclusive happy hour drink and food specials from 6-8 pm.  In an effort to expand our Notre Dame network, we encourage you to bring other ND alumni, as well as your business cards!

ND-DC MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

We are running our annual Membership Drive!  If you became a member last year and would like to continue, then please renew it as your membership expired on July 1. If you have not yet become a member, please consider it because your support is incredibly important to our club. Membership is only $25-35, depending on your class year, and helps our club provide tremendous programming throughout the year.  There are many perks of membership, including discounted rates to club events.
