Free Seminar: The value of qualitative research

Are you new to qualitative research? Would you like to learn about the techniques and tools that support analyzing unstructured data? Join Dr. Asher Beckwitt, for a one-hour eSeminar in which she shares her perspective on the importance of qualitative research and the tools available to support it.

Dr. Beckwitt has over 12 years of experience in qualitative research, a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology and a Masters in Sociology. She has assisted several hundred doctoral candidates,faculty members, government, commercial and community researchers from multiple disciplines worldwide. In her experience, she has found that while both qualitative and quantitative research methods are valid techniques, there is often a misunderstanding about the goals, processes, and appropriate use ofqualitative methods.

In this eSeminar, Dr. Beckwitt will share with participants the value of qualitative research and cover the following topics:

• What is qualitative research?
• The differences between qualitative and quantitative methods
• The purpose of using a qualitative verses quantitative approach
• The goals and uses of qualitative research
• The types of data used in qualitative research
• The overall process involved in conducting a qualitative research study
• The benefits of using NVivo software to analyze qualitative data
