*NOTRE DAME GLEE CLUB PERFORMING ON 10/17*

 

St. Mary's School is proud to host the Notre Dame Glee Club who will be performing on Wednesday, October 17 at 7:30 PM in Bishop Ireton's Garwood Whaley Auditorium.

Recognized as one of the "finest all male collegiate choral groups in the country," the University of Notre Dame Glee Club has a rich history of singing and brotherhood spanning the last 97 years. Drawing on a wide repertoire of music from ancient polyphony to modern pieces, they entertain around the country and the world every year. The concert is free and open to the public, however, donations will be appreciated.

Host families are also needed to house Glee Club members the evening of the concert. If interested, please contact Tom Newell '87 (tom.newell@comcast.net; 571.201.4779).



*ACE TRIVIA NIGHT 11/16*

On Friday, November 16th at 6:30 p.m., ACE Advocates for Catholic Schools will host their annual Trivia Night benefit for the students and teachers of St. Augustine School in Northwest Washington (Shaw / U Street). The event is always a huge hit, and will feature food, drinks, and lots of nerd-licious Trivia. Tables are available for up to 8 people, but any size group (or individuals!) is more than welcome. *ACC HAPPY HOUR 11/16*

Celebrate our entrance into the ACC! On Friday, November 16th, from 6-8:30pm, there will be an ACC happy hour at The Board Room (1737 Connecticut Avenue NW), which is a new bar in DuPont Circle. They are also having a food drive, as the Thanksgiving holiday will be just around the corner. Please bring a canned good or other nonperishable item to donate to a local food bank. Kick off the holiday season by raising a glass to the ACC! See below for The Board Room's website.

*GAMEWATCHES, PLUS ACE-SPONSORED GAMEWATCH 10/27*

Gamewatches will be held for every ND football game at *The Exchange <http://www.theexchangesaloon.com/>* (1719 G St NW, 3 blocks from the Farragut North and Farragut West metro stops) Come out to support the Irish and take advantage of some great food and drink specials! This Saturday, we will be playing Stanford at 3:30 pm EST. Go Irish!!

Two weeks from now, ACE Advocates and the Young Alumni are co-sponsoring a game watch! Join us on October 27th at the Exchange as we cheer on the Irish against Oklahoma. You can learn more about ACE's work in DC and sign up for our emails or any of our activities.
We'll also be sponsoring a school supplies drive for the current ACE teachers and their students. Here are some possible items to donate: (Just bring 'em to the game watch)

*ND WOMEN'S SOCCER & VOLLEYBALL VS. GEORGETOWN 10/12, 10/19*

ND Women's Soccer VS. Georgetown - Friday, October 12 at 3:00 pm
North Kehoe Field, Georgetown University
The Fighting Irish were picked to win the BIG EAST National Division title according to a preseason vote of the conference head coaches released Aug. 7. Notre Dame has won 13 BIG EAST regular-season titles (division or overall) since joining the conference 17 years ago, including regular-season crowns in eight of the past nine years.  You can watch them play Georgetown on Friday, October 12 at 3:00 pm at the North Kehoe Field on the Georgetown campus (it's free!) ND Women's Volleyball VS. Georgetown - Friday, October 19 at 8:00 pm
McDonough Arena, Georgetown University
The women's volleyball team is off to a 5-4 start. The four losses for the Irish are a bit deceiving as they have all come against ranked opponents including No. 1 Nebraska, No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 USC and No. 16 San Diego.  Come cheer them on as they take on Georgetown on Friday, October 19 at 8:00 pm at the McDonough Arena on the Georgetown campus.  No charge for admission!  Directions to McDonough Arena can be found using the following link: <http://www.guhoyas.com/facilities/gu-directions-mcdonough.html>

· Caitlin Girouard is an ND '11 graduate and she is moving until November to work on a political campaign. She's subletting 1 bdrm in her 2 bdrm/2 bath apartment. Her roommate is a CofC '11 graduate and is a great roommate! The subletted bedroom is large and has a walk in closet and attached bathroom. The apartment has stainless steel appliances, a built in bar, and granite countertops. It is in a really nice, small building on 17th St NW, between 17th and 18th. The bedroom is $1250/month and is FULLY FURNISHED. · Hi! We're looking for a third roommate to sublet the master bedroom, starting after October 8, until at least the end of the lease in June, for $810/month+utilities.  The apartment has a washer/dryer, is a mile from West Falls Church with free rush hour shuttle to the metro, free parking, outdoor pool, gym, dance studio, concierge, mini grocery store, and dry cleaning.  We live between 496, 66, and Rte 7, with Whole Foods, Starbucks, Noodles&Co and Trader Joe's across the street. And Tyson's mall is a mile up the street.

· Four women (including an ND alum) are looking for one or two housemates in Arlington. Our large town home is located a short walk from the Courthouse and Clarendon metros, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, restaurants, shopping in downtown Clarendon and is a short drive to St. Agnes. The townhouse is only a few years old and is gorgeous! There are four floors three and a half bathrooms, a large kitchen with granite counter tops, washer and dryer, pool and concierge that receives packages and provides 24-hour maintenance. The open room is the master suite and is the entire second floor. It has a large walk-in closet and a very spacious bathroom (two sinks, separate washroom, granite countertops, large Jacuzzi tub and separate walk-in shower). We like to entertain and are very easy going. The rent for the master suite is $1,850.00 ($925/person if shared) a month plus approximately $80/person/month for cleaning and utilities (we all pitch in on a cleaning service), and $85-$100 for underground parking (parking is optional but street parking is limited and first come first served). *Looking For Permanent Housing*

· Jennifer Jesse is a 2011 ND grad working as a teacher/grad student in DC starting early August, and is currently looking for an apartment.  Her school is located in NW, so she is trying to look for a place nearby or a place near the metro and under a 30 minute commute time.  She is also hoping to spend under $1,000 including utilities. · Nick LaPlante (Class of 2011) is looking for a room to lease in the H Street/Capitol Hill/Eastern Market area, preferably near Union Station, as he will be commuting via MARC to work at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
