[wapadc] NGO in Uganda: Building Partnerships

Dear all in WAPA--One of our wonderful Global Affairs MA students, Kaylee, is completing an internship this semester with Subir Africa Foundation. The Director is trying to raise more awareness about the NGO and its work and is hoping to build more global partnerships and connections. If you or anyone one you know, or organizations or institutions, could be connected to the foundation, please feel free to reach out to the Director (email below). Thank you!

- Cortney Hughes Rinker

My name is Kaylee Feather and I am a Graduate Student from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. For my internship as part of my final semester, I am currently working for the Subir Africa Foundation, a Ugandan-based organization that addresses Public Health, Education, and the general poverty that has stricken the area. I saw on your organization that you too help out Uganda, and I was wondering if perhaps you'd like to establish a partnership with our Foundation. The Director has asked me to do some outreach. If you're interested in more information and a potential partnership in expanding assistance in Africa, please outreach to me or my advisor Bwowe Damniano at safouganda23@gmail.com for more information on our organization, what we do, our data, etc.

Some words from my organization:

Subir Africa Foundation (SAFO-Uganda) is a community-based nonprofit organization, working to improve the lives of vulnerable and marginalized groups around Masaka City and greater Masaka through participatory and collaborative approaches. SAFO-Uganda's core program areas are Health, Education, Economic Development, Food and Nutrition Support, Sustainability and Humanitarian aidbtot the needy Women, Children & Youth. SAFO-Uganda runs workshops to raise awareness. This includes visiting schools to give menstrual education and teaching students how to acquire the skills for resilience and sustainable programs

Funds will be used for humanitarian aid of food supply, medical care support, clothings, beddings, reusable pads for needy girls and to buy scholastic materials for the kids in school. Taking local currency into account, this project is low-cost yet highly impactful: $110 is enough to support 1 single women family for the entire month. Even a small gift makes a huge difference!

Accountability for the project will be presented to the donors on request, with reports and photos coming straight from the NGO's supervisor, Bwowe Damiano. For information, you can reach out directly to him through email [safouganda23@gmail.com]
