Spring is a great time for service! Check out some of our upcoming volunteer opportunities below and visit www.dcypkiwanis.org or our Meetup Page for even more events! Hope to see everyone this Saturday for the Kiwanis One Day of Service!

Upcoming Events

Volunteer at the 2016 Kiwanis One Day of Service

Where: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School (3200 6th Street, SE)
When: Saturday, April 2 (9:00 AM-12:00 PM)
Metro: Congress Heights
Kiwanis members serve their communities all year long. But the excitement for service really builds in April each year when Kiwanis members come together for Kiwanis One Day—a day of community service that is felt around the world. On this year's Kiwanis One Day, DCYP is teaming up with the rest of the Kiwanis Family for a school beautification project at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School. Together we will help clean the school, organize its library and plant flowers out front. To RSVP, please email dcyp.service@gmail.com.

Volunteer at Heritage Family Day Series  (NEW!!)

Where: National Air and Space Museum, 600 Independence Ave SW

When: Saturday, April 9, 9:30 AM-3:00 PM

Metro: L'Enfant Plaza

Volunteer with DCYP at the National Air & Space Museum for a Family Day Event on "Exploring the Universe." Volunteers will help with activity stations such as arts and crafts, making astronaut mission patches, small science and STEM related experiments, telescope observation and answering visitor questions. Sign up by emailing the Service Team at dcyp.service@gmail.com.

Volunteer at Bikes for the World  (NEW!!)

Where: Bikes for the World, 1408 N Fillmore St., Suite 11, Arlington, VA

When: Wednesday, April 27, 6:00 PM-8:30 PM

Join us as we help Bikes for the World loading a shipping container with donated bikes to send overseas. Volunteer duties may range from tasks as simple as rolling a bike from the warehouse to the shipping container to actually lifting and packing the bikes into the trailer. DCYP will meet up at 6pm, but if you want to arrive earlier, Bikes for the World will begin loading the container as early as 4pm.

Bikes for the World makes quality used bicycles and parts affordable and available to lower income people in developing countries and works to generate skilled employment in bicycle repair and maintenance overseas. Contact dcyp.service@gmail.com to RSVP or with questions.
