And mark your calendars for one of our favorite service projects of the year - apple picking at a local farm to benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center! See you in September,  Amanda   Upcoming Events​ Happy Hour at Glen's Garden Market Where: Glen's Garden Market (2001 S Street Northwest) When: Wednesday, September 9 (6-8:00pm)  Metro: Dupont Circle (Red) Due to popular demand, we will return to Glen's Garden Market in Dupont Circle for our September Happy Hour! Join us on the patio to soak up the beautiful weather, enjoy $4 draft specials, and catch up with fellow young professionals! We'll also have details about upcoming events and service projects - newcomers always welcome. To spot the group, just look for the red balloon. Apple Picking for the Arlington Food Assistance Center Where: Local Farm – TBA When: Saturday, September 26 (9:00am - 12:00pm) Metro: RSVP to coordinate a carpool We all love fresh, local produce at our farmers markets, well so do those needing a little assistance with food when times are hard. The Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) coordinates with farmers around our region to have volunteers glean surplus produce that would otherwise be left to waste in the fields. This project provides literally tons of free, fresh and nutritious food to AFAC, and this month, DCYP is going to help by picking apples at a local orchard! We participated in this project last year, and even discovered the local farmers market with apple cider and other fresh apple goodies.To RSVP, email dcyp.service@gmail.com and let us know if you are able to help drive, or if you would like help coordinating a carpool. Special Announcement: Renew Your Membership by September 10 for a Dues Discount As we gear up for an exciting 2015-16 Kiwanis year, we would like to remind all members that dues renewals are due by September 20, and will keep your membership current through the end of September 2016. Members who pay early by September 10 can save $10, receiving an "early bird" dues rate of $85.
