A new favorite, come join us as we fulfill prisoners' requests with the Books-to-Prison Project at the Foundry United Methodist Church. We will be rounding up donated books to send off to prisoners based on their interest articulated through letters or by need. The B2P project supports prison libraries in all 50 states and sends out more than 4,000 packages annually. This program has been around for more than 10 years and is truly one of a kind. More information can be found here. Contact dcyp.service@gmail.com with questions or to RSVP.

Taste of Arlington Volunteer
Where: In front of Ballston Common Mall (Wilson Blvd & N Taylor / N Randolph St)
When: Sunday, May 17, (11:00am - 2:00pm)
Metro: Ballston (Orange / Silver)

The Taste of Arlington is Arlington's largest street festival and will be held on Sunday, May 17. The Taste of Arlington will feature over 50 local restaurants, music, entertainment for kids, a dog park, and beer and wine tents for patrons to enjoy. DCYP will be volunteering at the festival on behalf of the charity beneficiary of the event and an organization we've worked with many times before with our fall gleaning events, the Arlington Food Assistance Center. Duties may include helping with registration, pouring beer and wine, running carnival games for kids, assisting with the restaurant booths, etc.
Volunteers will receive a complimentary t-shirt and a booklet of 10 free taste tickets to use at the Taste of Arlington. For every volunteer at the event, AFAC will receive $50. DCYP will be working a shift from 11 am - 2 pm. After our shift we'll enjoy the festival together and use our free tickets! Email dcyp.service@gmail.com to sign-up.
