HAPPY HOUR FOR A CAUSE 12/18

Join the YA Club on Tuesday, December 18th to celebrate the holidays and give back to the D.C. community. Come to BlackFinn between 5-8 on Tuesday, hang out with friends, and bring a donation for Martha's Table. Martha's Table is a local D.C. organization that works to provide sustainable solutions to poverty, including education and nutrition programs, a thrift store and clothing distribution center, and meals for the homeless everyday. Martha's Table has a wishlist on Amazon.com that includes canned food items, teaching materials, clothes and hygiene products- check it out here. We will have boxes to collect all items.
If you don't have time to pick something up or order it online, we will be taking monetary donations. This is an opportunity to have fun and give back this holiday season!

WHERE: BlackFinn, 1620 I Street NW, Washington D.C.
WHEN: Tuesday, December 18 5-8 pm
WHY: To have fun and give back!

HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF EFFORTS

Many people in New York and New Jersey, including some of Notre Dame's own, are dealing with horrific problems in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The storm destroyed their houses and possessions, and many have been displaced from their homes and will need help for the indefinite future. Members of the Notre Dame family throughout the northeast already are working very hard to assist our friends and neighbors. To those of you who want to join our efforts, please see how you can help!

Save the date!  On Tuesday, January 8th, 2013, from 6:30-8:30pm, the ND Club of Washington DC will host the annual Career Night for local students and alumni.  There will be an outstanding speaker in John Sturm, associate Vice President of federal and Washington relations, to speak about his newly created position and the value of networking in the Notre Dame community.  Following that, there will be tables around the room populated with specific industries - so it'll be a great opportunity to search for new employees, network with potential business partners, or network for a new job.

Looking For a Roommate

·
Andrea Vergara ('11 Architecture) and Sarah Baker ('11) are looking for one or two roommates to share an apartment or possibly house in NW DC. Currently in Dupont Circle, the girls are looking to find a bigger space and hopefully share it with fellow ND alums! Neighborhoods they are considering include Logan Circle, Columbia Heights, and Dupont but are certainly open to others. Move date is flexible, but likely after the holidays. If interested, please email Sarah and Andrea at sbaker8488@gmail.com.

· Four women (including an ND alum) are looking for one or two housemates in Arlington. Our large town home is located a short walk from the Courthouse and Clarendon metros, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, restaurants, shopping in downtown Clarendon and is a short drive to St. Agnes. The townhouse is only a few years old and is gorgeous! There are four floors three and a half bathrooms, a large kitchen with granite counter tops, washer and dryer, pool and concierge that receives packages and provides 24-hour maintenance. The open room is the master suite and is the entire second floor. It has a large walk-in closet and a very spacious bathroom (two sinks, separate washroom, granite countertops, large Jacuzzi tub and separate walk-in shower). We like to entertain and are very easy going. The rent for the master suite is $1,850.00 ($925/person if shared) a month plus approximately $80/person/month for cleaning and utilities (we all pitch in on a cleaning service), and $85-$100 for underground parking (parking is optional but street parking is limited and first come first served). The room is officially available on the 27th of August but possibly as early as the first of August. Please contact Meg Miller at miller.meg9@gmail.com.
