Subject: Urgent: DC-based researchers call for action on NSF funding cuts
To:
Who: Researchers, contractors, and organizations residing in, employed in, or based in DC
What: Sign on to a letter requesting that DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb join an existing lawsuit by 16 attorneys general related to cuts in NSF funding
Deadline for signatories: This Friday, June 6, 2025
Background:
Sixteen Attorneys General, led by New York, have already filed a lawsuit against the National Science Foundation and Acting Director Brian Stone, related to the NSF's recent changes to funding priorities, cancellation of existing grants, and announced policy of reduced indirect cost supports for funded projects. Researchers in a number of additional states are calling on their attorneys general to join the lawsuit, and I would like to see DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb among them. This action was originated by Dr. Eric Tucker of The Study Group and has been circulated to and supported by researchers in several additional states.
You can read the draft letter to AG Schwalb at this link. If you and/or your organization would be in a position to sign on to this letter calling for AG Schwalb to join the lawsuit, please indicate that on this brief Google form. We would like to have signatures by the close of business on Friday, June 6, 2025.
Thank you for considering this opportunity.
