Join NDWC for a special edition of Beyond the Book on Sunday, January 27th from 12:30PM-2:30PM at Le Pain Quotidien at Carroll Square. Our winter read - What Though the Odds - tells the story of tragedy, adversity, and ultimately triumph. Join us for a break from the cold for a heartwarming chat with author, Haley Scott DeMaria ('95). Questions? Contact: Lauren O'Brien, lobrien11@yahoo.com
Annual Winterfest Flip Cup Tournament
Here is your chance to dust off those college flip cup skills and join fellow ND Alumni for our Annual Winterfest Flip Cup Tournament! The tournament will be held on Saturday, February 9th at Grand Central in Adams Morgan so bring your A game. There will be a prize and bragging rights on the line for the winning team. We'll have unlimited beer for players and spectators from 8-11 PM. Cost is $25/person for dues-paying Club members and $30/person for non-members. Both Notre Dame alumni and friends are welcome to play; you just need at least one ND alum to register your team! Register HERE. Questions? Contact Meg Gallagher (meg.gallagher5@gmail.com) or Mary Prouse (marylprouse@gmail.com).
Volunteering with Food & Friends
The ND Club of DC will be volunteering at Food & Friends on Saturday, February 16th from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. We will be doing food packaging and prep for critically ill people in the DC area. The organization provides 1,000,0000 medically-specialized meals, friendship and nutrition counseling every year to our critically ill neighbors, and would not be able to do so without volunteer support. To learn more, please visit the organization's website. If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please contact MaryKate Robinson, marykate@alumni.nd.edu, at the email above. Volunteering with the Fr. McKenna Center
We are volunteering at the Fr. McKenna Center on Saturday, February 23rd from 7:30AM to 1:30. The Day Shelter welcomes approximately 50 homeless men each day for an array of services. Without volunteers, the shelter is not able to open on Saturdays - so this would really help them out! There are two shifts available - Morning (7:30 - 10:30 AM) and Afternoon (10:30 AM - 1:30 PM). If you are interested in joining us, please email MaryKate Robinson, marykate@alumni.nd.edu, indicate which shift you prefer. Facebook event linked here
