[wapadc] advice on recorder and mic

GW, please post this to the dept list.

Happy New Year.    Its time to modernize my audio recording equipment
and I'm writing to ask your advice on what's good on the market now.
These will be interviews done in person at people's offices and focus
groups done probably somewhere at a school, so no formal interviewing
equipment.

Could you please let me know if you have any suggestions for a small
hand held recorder  where the files can be easily transferred to
computer for transcribing? I will also be looking an omni mic that can
handle both focus groups and interviews.  I'd prefer something
moderately priced, but need good sound quality and want it to last awhile.

Thank you,

Jo Anne

[wapadc] contract re appraising afro-carribean collectible jewelry

Greetings all.  I'm wondering if anyone has a contact in the museum or
collections world who could suggest someone to appraise and help me find
an appropriate buyer for some afro-carribean jewelry from the 1930s-50s?
I've inherited something collectible but this is not my field.

Thanks,

Jo Anne
