Volunteer at Taste of Arlington
When: Sunday, May 21, 2:30-6:00 PM
Where: Ballston/ Volunteer Check-in at 888 N. Quincy Street, Arlington
The Taste of Arlington, Arlington's largest street festival and one of DCYP's favorite annual events, features over 50 local restaurants, music, and beer and wine tents for patrons to enjoy. DCYP is volunteering on behalf of the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), which gets a $50 donation for every volunteer. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt, refreshments and snacks during our shift, and a free taste ticket to use at the festival.
New Details: If you have not yet completed the volunteer form, please do so ASAP. In the second field of the form, say you are with "DCYP Kiwanis," and the 4th field should be "Beer & Wine". DCYP will be volunteering from 3-6pm in the beer garden and will meet at 2:30pm at the Volunteer Check-In station (888 N. Quincy Street). We will be outside on our feet so dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Event t-shirts will be provided. Some members of the group are planning to meet at 1:30 to sample food and enjoy the event before our shift. Wristbands are required for entry, so if you are coming early, please email Stacey at DCYP.Service@gmail.com or comment on the Meetup message board.

Volunteer at SCAN's Croquet Day
When: Saturday, June 3, 12:00-3:30 PM
Where: Joseph Hensley Park (4200 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA) – (Short drive from Van Dorn Metro - please note in your RSVP if you need transportation from the metro to the park.)
Croquet Day is a tournament-style competition for individuals and families that benefits SCAN, an organization that provides advocacy and support for children and families in Northern Virginia. The tournament attracts roughly 200 participants and spectators and helps raise vital funds for SCAN's child abuse and neglect prevention programs. Types of volunteer work for the event include: food tents, registration, score keeper, activity tent, photography, etc. Our group's specific role and the time of our shift will be determined closer to the date of the event.
