WORLD YOUTH DAY FESTIVAL (SATURDAY, 7/30)
Join more than 1,000 young adults (ages 18-39, married and single) from across the country on Saturday, July 30 at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, for Kraków in the Capital. At this day-long festival, coinciding with the celebration of World Youth Day in Kraków, Poland, you will be transported on pilgrimage with Pope Francis through: Polish food and music, live-feed of Pope Francis, bilingual talks from bishops and national speakers, powerful prayer experiences including Adoration, Confession, candlelight Stations of the Cross, Vigil Mass with Cardinal Wuerl, a late-night concert with Marie Miller, optional overnight camping and more! ND WOMEN CONNECT BOOK CLUB (TUESDAY, 8/2)
The ND Women Connect DC Book Club will meet on Tuesday, August 2 at 7 PM to discuss our summer read, The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins! The gathering will be held at the American Legion building on Capitol Hill (224 D St. SE -- near Capitol South Metro station). ND-DC SUMMER FRESHMEN SEND-OFF PICNIC (SATURDAY, 8/6)
Please join us for our annual ND-DC Summer Freshman Send-off on Saturday, August 6th from 1 PM to 3 PM! The picnic event will be held at Bishop Breton High School (201 Cambridge Rd, Alexandria). We are welcoming a large incoming class of freshmen this year, so we hope you will be able to help us welcome them to the Notre Dame family. There is no cost for this event, but please RSVP to Tara Schimpf (taraschimpf@gmail.com) so we can make the appropriate food and beverage accommodations.
MCKENNA CENTER VOLUNTEERING (SATURDAY, 8/6)
A varied group of single and married young adults in their 20s and 30s, the Holy Trinity Young Adult Community (YAC) are hosting service days at The Father McKenna Center (19 I St NW), a Catholic social service agency serving the poor and homeless of Washington, on August 6 and October 8! Volunteers will serve two meals, help make showers and mail available to guests, and engage with some of the homeless men. The Holy Trinity YACs need 6 to 8 volunteers for each shift. Shifts are either 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM or 10:30 AM to 1:15 PM — or feel free to sign up for the entire day! BOAT CRUISE (FRIDAY, 8/12)
Grab your boat shoes and cocktail attire for a classy night on the Potomac! The ND-DC Young Alumni Club is holding its third annual boat cruise complete with a two-hour open bar and hors d'oeuvres. Boarding begins at 8:00 PM, so we hope to see you there in your SYR-wear! Tickets are $60 for dues-paying Club Members and $75 for non-Members. Spots are limited, so purchase your tickets now.
NATIONALS VS. ORIOLES (THURSDAY, 8/22)
Join the ND Club of MD and ND Club of DC for the joint Battle of the Beltway Orioles vs. Nationals game at Camden Yards on Monday, August 22 at 7:05 PM!
