Hello everyone:
As is usual for a AAA meeting in DC, WAPA will be quite engaged in the meeting. This will be especially so in December as NAPA celebrates its 30th anniversary.
WAPA will co-sponsor a booth with NAPA in the main exposition hall. New T shirts may be in the works, so drop by and pick one up, and see old friends. NAPA will have a photo display; see if you are represented!
WAPA members typically supply much of the staffing for the booth, so please think about spending an hour or two meeting and greeting. We also need instant mentors to spend an hour speaking with students and new professionals about the practice of anthropology.
Booth hours are Thursday through Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. Mentoring hours will be somewhat shorter. Dalia Golchan, Pamela Rao, and Ron Nunn will be the main booth coordinators. Please help out and let us know if you can be available for an hour. Note: you must be registered for the meeting to get into the expo hall.
WAPA will also spearhead a special set of roundtables on Saturday (Dec 6) that focus on employment in the national capital region. These include the private, international, federal government, and student sectors. Details on these roundtables can be found on the NAPA meeting page, Annual Meeting 2014 | National Association for the Practice of Anthropology.
We want these panels to be a big success so please attend and help spread the word about these very valuable sessions. Let us know if you can sign up for a slot, and see you in December.
