Good evening,

I'm reaching out to ask for your help connecting the National Park Service (NPS) anthropology program with non- or former federal anthropologists who would be willing to speak with current NPS staff about career transitions and resume development.

With the recent retirement of Jennifer Talken Spaulding and no immediate plans to fill the Washington Office anthropology leadership role, the program is operating without central guidance. In response, I've formed a servicewide anthropology working group, with Joy Beasley's approval, to share information, resources, and keep core functions moving forward.

Given the uncertainty surrounding the long-term future of anthropology within the federal system, especially in cultural resources, we're trying to support our colleagues in thinking through next steps. We're particularly interested in setting up informal conversations, trainings, or panels that can help translate our federal skills into other sectors and improve how we present that experience in resumes.

If your organization can help identify anthropologists, or support this effort in any other way, I'd be grateful.

Warmly,
Noel López, phd
Regional Cultural Anthropologist
