Mark Shields '59: One of the most respected analysts in Washington and a syndicated columnist for more than 25 years; deemed "A Walking Almanac of American Politics" by The Washington Post. Since 1988, Shields has provided weekly political analysis and commentary for the PBS NewsHour (current on-screen counterpart is David Brooks of The New York Times). For 17 years, he served as moderator of CNN's weekly political discussion show, Capital Gang.


Melinda Henneberger '80:  Currently a USA Today columnist and visiting fellow at Catholic University's Institute for Policy Research & Catholic Studies, Henneberger was formerly a senior writer for Bloomberg Politics and editor-in-chief of AOL's Politics Daily. She spent 10 years at The New York Times as a Washington correspondent and Rome bureau chief. Her work has appeared in GQ, Time, Newsweek and Reader's Digest.



The panelists will share insights, analysis and commentary on the nominees and the issues surrounding the most contentious campaign in recent history.

We've had a week off. We've regrouped. We're whole new football team, right? Right. The Exchange. 3:30 PM ET. Make sure you're there to cheer on the Irish! The Exchange is located at 1719 G Street NW, close to the Orange, Blue, and Red lines.


For the games, The Exchange is offering the following specials:

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY WITH CARPENTER'S SHELTER (Monday, 10/31)

ND-DC is volunteering at Carpenter's Shelter in Alexandria, VA (metro accessible!) on Monday, October 31. Carpenter's Shelter serves over 750 homeless and formerly homeless children and adults each year. They are looking for volunteer support from 4-6 PM on Halloween (Monday, 10/31) to help decorate their children's area for Halloween.


The kids who will be attending currently live in the shelter or have recently moved out of the shelter and their ages range from 7 weeks to 15 years old.

RSVP to John Beckham and mark your calendar for a special Mass held only for Notre Dame alumni at the Dominican House of Studies on Saturday evening, November 5!


The community's Prior, Father Luke Clark, O.P. will be welcoming the alumni and Father Andrew Hofer (ND 2009 PHD) will celebrate the Mass and will be available for Confessions prior to Mass. There will be a good group of Domican Domers joining us for the Mass-- please join us in support of their life's work. Following Mass, continue the evening with dinner on site (entree will be provided by club, please bring side dish to share). The Dominican House of Studies is located at 487 Michigan Ave NE Washington, DC 20017.
