ND FOOTBALL GAME WATCHES IN ROCKVILLE, MD

As a convenience for Notre Dame football fans in the DC suburbs, our alternative TV-watching site in Rockville MD is available again this season.

Cheer for the Irish every game at Miller's Rockville Ale House, a spacious restaurant and sports bar at 1471 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD. 20852.  It's only a mile from I-270, with plenty of free parking, and is close to the Twinbrook station on the Red Line. On Rockville Pike, look for the Sunoco station next door. For more info, call Dick Schreitmueller at (301) 929-8066 or John Lucey at (301) 983-9008.

ND-DC CO-ED FLAG FOOTBALL TEAM - FALL SEASON BEGINS! (9/7)

Fall is upon us, and the ND co-ed flag football team is back on the gridiron.  The Flagging Irish are always looking for new recruits, so if you're interested in playing email John Dickas (johndickas@yahoo.com). Games are on weekends in Anacostia Park against teams organized by other alumni clubs, and no experience or commitment is necessary.  The regular season runs from September 7 through the end of November, and joining mid-season is no problem.

NATIONALS VS. PHILLIES BASEBALL GAME (9/7)

Enjoy a day at the ballpark with the ND club at the Nationals vs. Phillies baseball game on Sunday, September 7 at 1:35 PM. $5 per ticket supports the ND Scholarship Fund. Join us for 12:00 Mass immediately before the game, 1/2 block from Navy Yard metro, at St. Vincent de Paul (14 M Street, SE, Washington, DC 20003). NOMINATE A DC-AREA TEACHER FOR THE EXCELLENCE IN TRAINING CONFERENCE AT ND (9/12)

Our club has the privilege of nominating and sponsoring a DC-area teacher to attend this award-winning teaching conference that offers hands-on training from some of the country's leading education experts. You can nominate a DC-area teacher simply by submitting a letter of recommendation to the NDDC President account (nddcpresident@gmail.com) by Friday, September 12th. The club covers the teacher's travel, hotel, and registration fees for the conference.

BOOK DISCUSSION HOSTED BY TWO ND LAW PROFESSORS (9/17)

Two law professors from Notre Dame recently published a book about Catholic schools and their positive impact on local communities. We are holding an event with these two authors, to hear about their research. Please join us at 6 pm on September 17th at The Metropolitan Club (1700 H St NW Washington, DC 20036), where authors Nicole Garnett and Margaret Brinig visit Washington to discuss Lost Classroom, Lost Community: Catholic Schools' Importance in Urban America, an important new book exploring the implications of Catholic school closures and the impact on their communities.
