Sorry to all, don't think beer night is going to be a reality for me trying to get down that way from Dulles.

[tfctoastmasters:515] Talk for Change Toastmasters is still on tonight!

Greetings, TFC Toastmasters and guests!

We are still on for tonight, thanks to Jeanne LaBella and the American Public Power Association. We're pleased that our speakers will still have the opportunity to speak.

Attached is the agenda for our meeting tonight. We have a special speech in store about Toastmasters for our aniticipated guests, including Brielle Sydor and the TransPerfect group, Rodger Brown, Adrianna Rivas, Alexia Diorio and guest(s) from our MeetUp page.

Our meeting begins at 6:45 p.m. and is located at 1875 Connecticut Avenue, at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and T Street across from the Washington Hilton Hotel. Please try to arrive by 6:40 p.m. to ensure that we start and end on time. If you have a role and are running late, please be sure to text me at 413-265-3189 so we can plan accordingly and let you in.

The building is located approximately 3 blocks from the Dupont Circle Metro (red line), North exit on the right. You can also take the 42 Bus heading north from Metro Center. If you need to park, there are normally metered spots in front of building on Connecticut available, as well as some spots on T Street. There are two entrances (1825 & 1875) and we need to enter through the 1875 entrance ("Universal North"). The doors will be locked, so we will meet in the lobby before the meeting. If you come after the start of the meeting, the building guard will let you inside. Please give the guard your name, let them know you are there for Toastmasters, and he or she will let you up to the meeting on the 12th floor at the American Public Power Association's main conference room.

An important note to TFC club members: please remember to bring your Competent Communicator & Competent Leadership manuals and have a member fill out an evaluation for you! If you are speaking or serving in a role receive credit where your credit is due!

All the best,
Catherine Baum

President, TFC

[NSCoderNightDC] NSCoder Snow day

I regret to inform you that due to the weather conditions we are cowardly canceling tonight's meeting. Hope you all stay warm. Hopefully the weather tomorrow will be more amicable to Schlu's beerfest. Hope to see you then.

We'll meet as usual (assuming no natural calamities) next week.
Jose

MLK Day of Service
Where: Cesar Chavez Public Charter School (3701 Hayes St NE)
When: Saturday, January 25, 10:30am - 3:30pm

Metro: Minnesota Ave (Orange)
DCYP will be joining Georgetown, DC Promise Neighborhood Initiative (DCPNI) and the greater DC community on Saturday, January 25 for the 2014 MLK Day of Service. Hundreds of Ward 7 residents and members of the Georgetown University and DC community will spend the day engaging in a variety of service projects, from creating care packages for NIH Children's Inn, to letter writing to veterans, to working with the elderly. Check-in and day-of registration begins at 10:30 am at Cesar Chavez Public Charter School for Public Policy at Parkside. The day ends with a community lunch and celebration and will conclude by 4:00 or 4:30 pm. You are welcome to stay for the lunch or can leave earlier if needed. To read more about Georgetown University's Ward 7 Initiative, please go to: http://www.georgetown.edu/ward7/index.html. Though we are participating in this event run by Georgetown, you do not need to have any ties or connections to the University. All are welcome, so bring friends! This event will have parking and is a short walk from the Minnesota Ave metro station (orange). For more information and to sign-up, please email DCYP.Service@gmail.com.

When: Friday, January 31, 6 - 9pm

Join DCYP for an evening of jazz.  For $5, come and support local jazz musicians.  This happens every Friday Night and in my (Sarah's) opinion, is one of the cities best kept secrets...  The SW Catering company sets up a delicious meal in the basement of the church and they pipe in the music there as well.  Look for the red balloon.  We'll probably gather in the back.  Hope you will join us! More info here.
